WANT TO HIRE BEN?
Ben is an actor and musician, as well as a teaching artist for Broadway Bound Kids, an education program that establishes after-school arts programs in New York City elementary schools. He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where he began playing piano at age three. His love of acting started in the third grade when he played Prince Charming in his school’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Ben was bit by the acting bug then and there. Ben studied piano at the preparatory program at renowned Peabody Institute and was accepted into the Carver Center for Arts and Technology’s magnet acting program for high school, where he discovered his love of coaching his fellow students and composing. After high school, Ben was accepted and attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he trained in Practical Aesthetics at the Atlantic Theater Company’s Atlantic Acting School. Shortly after graduating, Ben toured the country as Christian Grey in the hilarious 50 Shades! a musical parody, a role he went on to perform in Off-Broadway. When he’s not performing or music directing, Ben works in the greater New York City area as an audition coach specializing in youth coaching.
“Ben Caplan makes the most of it with a belly-shaking performance and sharp comic timing.”
-The Kansas City Star
“Ben Caplan as Christian Grey was the highlight of the night. He was a hilarious contrast to the two eye-candy dancers, yet he received the most cheers from the women in the audience. Caplan absolutely owned the role and was not afraid improvise, adding hilarious lyrics to the song "I Don't Make Love" by pointing out various female members of the audience he would have sex with.”
-Creative Loafing Tampa
“Ben Caplan as the plus-sized Christian Grey clad in a sickly revealing, red and white muscle builders unitard with a full on barrel tummy was hysterical, delivering his song and dance numbers with great physical comedic timing.”
